Wk 4 – Artist Interview – Andrea Albarran

This week I observed Andrea’s art. One thing I noticed when observing is that it was filled with life and color. Colors used were extravagant, they were vibrant. She had a few portraits which were family or friends. Around the paintings were symbols which added more of a personal touch. Her paintings were well and alive.

She explores people through color, expresses the feeling towards the person. Upon preparation she uses a  reference and sometimes wings it. Andrea never sticks to one idea, she is always changing and trying new things out. She always has been drawing, but started experimenting with oil paint.

But she became serious with her art five years ago. Andrea is a Senior and plans to teach in China after the semester. Puts a lot of emotion into her paintings, uses different mediums and influences. Her atyle is Abstract and hybrid. Imagination, emotions, family are inspiration. Likes the challenge that comes with having to draw people.
